About Ourea Events

We’re a small (9) person team organising the UK’s finest and most challenging off-road running events including the Montane Dragon’s Back Race®, Cape Wrath Ultra®, Northern Traverse™, Salomon Skyline Scotland®, and the SILVA Great Lakeland 3Day™. We work year-round, primarily from a rural office near Kendal, and our passion is the outdoors, running and adventure.

Position type: full time (4-5 days p/week)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Ourea Events are looking for a passionate and creative marketing assistant to join the team based at our office on the outskirts of Kendal, Cumbria.

The job role primarily involves assisting the marketing manager in fulfilling marketing tasks, both year-round in the office and as part of the media team during our events. The role also requires the successful candidate to deputise for the customer services manager at peak times or in respect of annual leave.

The successful candidate will be entitled to the company pension scheme, TOIL payments for working on events, and the company bonus scheme.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the role will include:

Social media

  • Managing our presence across all social media platforms to maximise awareness of our events with relevant audiences.

  • Developing fresh and creative ideas to build and engage our communities.

  • Researching and engaging with influencers to maximise the PR reach of events.

Communications

  • Writing and publishing accurate and relevant website news content.

  • Executing a high-quality and regular output of communications to our email databases, working to established timelines.

  • Keeping race listing websites updated.

  • Collating press cuttings.

Design & branding

  • Supporting the production of simple design work for print and web.

  • Supporting the procurement of event merchandise and developing our merchandise offering.

Other

  • Supporting sponsors’ event activation activities.

  • Deputising for the customer services manager at peak times or in respect of annual leave.

  • Working with the media team during our events to manage social media or website blog/news updates.

Essential Skills/qualifications

  • Able to demonstrate excellent spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills.

  • Previous experience in a marketing role or significant competency in the use of social media channels.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications.

  • Highly resilient and able to work calmly when under pressure to meet immovable deadlines in challenging circumstances and to go the extra mile.

Desirable Skills/qualifications

  • A recognised marketing qualification.

  • Experience of editing websites using a CMS.

  • Experience with Affinity Suite.

  • Experience using CRM systems.
