Supporting Mountain Rescue Across the UK Mountains

At Ourea Events, every race entry helps protect the landscapes we run through.

When participants enter our ultra-distance and mountain races, they are invited to make a voluntary donation to Mountain Rescue teams along the route.
We then distribute the funds equally between the local teams covering each course.

To date we have raised:

£67,650.53

Why We Support Mountain Rescue

Mountain Rescue teams are volunteer-led emergency services. They operate 24/7 in severe weather, remote terrain and high-risk environments, often during the very events and conditions that define mountain running.

Our races take place in remote landscapes where safety is critical. Supporting these teams is part of our responsibility as an event organiser and as members of the mountain community.

Your entry doesn’t just get you to the start line; it helps keep the mountains safe for everyone.

While we proudly support Mountain Rescue charities, our events are designed so we do not rely on public rescue services to operate our races. Ourea Events runs its own professional mountain safety operation and medical services through Shelter Stone, providing dedicated:

  • Mountain safety teams positioned en route

  • Rapid response event medics

  • Event Control for incident management coordination

  • Communication and satellite tracking systems across the course

This approach ensures our races are planned to be as self-sufficient as possible, reducing pressure on volunteer emergency services.

However, mountain environments are unpredictable. Public Mountain Rescue teams remain an essential part of the safety network in the UK mountains. Their availability protects not only our participants, but walkers, climbers and the wider outdoor community.

Want to Support Mountain Rescue?

You can contribute when entering any Ourea Events race. Every donation, no matter the size, goes directly to the teams operating in the mountains you run through.

Kendal Trail Run – Proudly Not For Profit

Since 2012, Ourea Events, in partnership with Kendal Mountain Festival, has proudly delivered the Kendal Trail Run as a true not-for-profit event. From the very beginning, the vision has been simple: create an inspiring trail experience that gives back to the mountains and the community that makes it possible.

Every stride taken on race day carries a deeper purpose. 100% of the event’s profits are donated directly to Mountain Rescue teams — the dedicated volunteers who stand ready, day and night, in all conditions, to keep our hills and runners safe.

By taking part, our runners are not just enjoying the trails around Kendal; they are actively supporting the lifesaving work of these remarkable teams and helping to protect the landscapes we all love.
