The SILVA Traverses are fast approaching, and it will soon be time for us to count you down at the start line! Our Ops team, the wonderful Greg and Lorna, have been on a road trip across the UK, visiting all of the sites! Keep reading to see where they’ve been…

Where have the ops team been visiting?
First stop… St Bees! The starting point for the SILVA Northern Traverse and the SILVA Lakes Traverse race. The iconic cliffs on the North West coast of England where your 300km journey begins (or 100km if you’re on the Lakes Traverse!)

The next stop on the agenda was Shap! The team were checking out the support points in preparation for the runners coming through. It’s also where the SILVA Lakes Traverse participants will be crossing the finish line after their 100km adventure!

…WHERE TO NEXT?
With the addition of our two new ultra races announced for 2024, this meant some extra stops on their road trip across the UK.
The SILVA Dales Traverse begins in Kirkby Stephen and passes through the pennines, over the iconic nine standards and finishes below Richmond Castle. The team’s first stop was in Reeth and then over to Richmond to the finish line location!

A CAKERY IN REETH?
This is something we can get on board with! The Dales Bike Centre and Cakery in Reeth will form a support point on the new SILVA Dales Traverse race, offering hot food and great cake. Participants will stop here on their way through to Richmond. I think both us, and the participants are equally excited about the cake stop!

WHAT MOOR DO WE NEED TO KNOW?
The SILVA Moors Traverse weaves through the spectacular northern edge of the Moors, starting in Ingleby Cross and finishing in Robin Hoods Bay. The team visited the support points in Lordstones and Glaisdale, to ensure everything was ready for the runners coming through in April. The SILVA Moors Traverse is a great addition to the SILVA Traverses this year. The 80km route is the perfect distance for anyone looking to test their endurance and challenge themselves in ultra running.
Of course, new races… means more choice! We’ve written an article detailing each of the SILVA Traverses for you to choose the right option for you.

WHAT FOOD WILL BE AVAILABLE?
Throughout the SILVA Traverses there will be support points where participants can rest, regroup and refuel. Our Catering team have been prepping and cooking up a storm in the kitchen. You can find out what food’s will be available throughout the race on our website.

We are incredibly excited to be making new partnerships this year, including the Bike Centre in Reeth, which will help us improve our events, and enhance our offer to participants.

THE END OF THE ROAD(TRIP)
After a 300km drive (a little bit easier than running it…) Greg and Lorna made it over to Robin Hood’s Bay. This will be the finish line where participants taking part in the SILVA Northern Traverse will end their epic journey, crossing the finish line!
