Job opportunity - Finance Manager

Ourea Events is delighted to be recruiting for the position of Finance Manager with a view to the successful candidate starting with us in February 2021. 

ABOUT OUREA EVENTS

We’re a small (7-person) team organising the UK’s finest off-road running events including the Dragon’s Back Race®, Cape Wrath Ultra®, Salomon Skyline Scotland®, and the SILVA Great Lakeland 3Day™. We work year-round, primarily from a rural office near Kendal, and our passion is the outdoors.

JOB DETAILS

Location: Kendal*

Position type: 2/3 days/week**

Anticipated start date: February 2021

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our ideal candidate would work from the Kendal office, and join us at events*** as an integrated member of the core Ourea Events team. Additional and adjusted responsibilities to those listed below should be expected in keeping with an ever-evolving small business. The successful candidate would also be entitled to access the company pension scheme, TOIL payments for working on events, and the company bonus scheme.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Day-to-day bookkeeping

  • Day-to-day budget management

  • Liaison with accountants

  • Managing cashflow

  • Preparation of VAT returns and filing under MTD

  • Calculation of TOMS (Tour Operators Margin Scheme)

  • Processing of monthly/weekly payroll and auto enrolment

  • Preparation of accounts to trial balance including all control account reconciliations

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts

  • Carbon accounting and 1% for the Planet administration

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS

  • AAT qualified or equivalent

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fully CCAB qualified (ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA or CIPFA)

  • Experience of BrightPay software preferred

  • Experience of using QuickBooks online preferred

  • Experience of transitioning to digital invoice systems

* We will consider remote working for exceptional candidates.

**We anticipate that this role is 2/3-days per week but this may be dependent on the experience of the candidate.

***We will consider a ring-fenced role just looking after the finance and with no hands-on involvement in the event delivery.
